Display Idea
Many Martial Artist parents have asked us about ideas for displaying their child's past rank belts in a way that the belts will not get dusty. While wall hanging belt display units are very nice, the woven texture of the belts does tend to collect dust over time.
Here's a solution that solves this problem and is practical, too. Store the belts in a "fill-able" table lamp. As shown here, many lamp stores sell lamps with a clear glass base. These lamps have a removable cover for filling the base with your own items. (Some people fill these lamp bases with shells or flowers, for example.)
As your child is promoted to a new belt, take their past belt and coil it neatly, then place it in the bottom of the fill-able lamp base. Over time, as your child progresses to more advanced belts, roll up their previous belt and add it to the stack of coiled belts in the lamp.
As you child sees their lamp fill up over time, they will be reminded of the progress they are making in their Martial Arts studies. And the belts will remain dust-free!
